Wolverines get serious about their flags.
This post is mostly to allow me to keep our American Flag clients up to date with what is going on with our fundraising efforts.
Recently the decision was made to update all our flags and poles. Previously we were hammering rebar into the yards and sliding a pole over the top of the rebar. There are pros and cons to doing it that way. The risks involved with using rebar outweighed the benefits. So now we are sinking foot-long PVC pipes into the yards and marking the sidewalks next to the sleeves. It eliminates the need for rebar and we are able to get the flags up and down quicker and easier.
However, to do this we had to convert all the poles over to a smaller diameter. We decided to update all the flags at the same time so they are all brand new and gorgeous! The boys did quite a bit of work in the heat of the Arizona summer evenings.

Setting up poles to drill holes for flag attachment.
Placing yellow tape to alert us to our flags.
Attaching flag to pole.
35 flags later and they are done.
Here are some of the activities that the funds from our flags allow the boys to do:
Annual Snow Camp
Weaver's Needle in the Superstition Mountains
Hoodoo formations in the Chiracahuas
Week-long summer camp
Horseback riding at camp
Backpacking at base of Mogollon Rim near Christopher Creek
And the activities go on and on. Thanks to all of you who use our flag service throughout the year to help us provide these high-adventure activities for our young men. We greatly appreciate your support.
With that in mind, good night.
